David M. Green is one of the pioneers of hearing science.
His contributions include the enormously influential application of signal detection theory to psychophysics and beyond, as well as experimental and theoretical work on masking, psychophysical suppression, temporal resolution and integration, intensity and spectral-shape discrimination, sound-source localization, stimulus uncertainty, high-frequency audiometry, and adaptive psychophysical procedures. He also wrote a congressional report on an examination of audio evidence from the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
Among his many honors, Dr. Green is a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the Guggenheim Foundation. He is also the recipient of both the Gold and Silver Medals of the Acoustical Society of America, the Award of Merit of the Association for Research in Otolaryngology, and the Hugh Knowles Prize for Distinguished Achievement.
The Knowles Hearing Center at Northwestern University is sponsoring a two-day conference in honor of Dr. Green. Speakers include an international roster of his former students, post-docs, and associates. Please join us for this event to be held on the Northwestern University campus in Evanston Illinois, located on the beautiful shore of Lake Michigan. Contributed posters are welcome.
